Corolla is What Car? champion

15 February 2002: The new Toyota Corolla was recently named Car of the Year 2002 by What Car? magazine. The Corolla, which also claimed the award for Best Small Hatchback, beat off competition from 17 other award winners for this prestigious title.

Toyota looked towards Europe for inspiration when designing this ninth generation Corolla, with the emphasis on style, space, cabin quality and improved driving dynamics.

Toyota Ireland MD Dave Shannon said he hopes that this is the first of many accolades for the latest generation of the world’s best selling car’.
