23 May 2002: Toyota has introduced D-CAT or Diesel Clean Advanced Technologies, its new comprehensive clean diesel concept, at the 1st Toyota European Environmental Seminar and Test Drive held at the CERAM proving ground in Mortefontaine near Paris.
D-CAT includes a selection of Toyota's various current and newly developed diesel technologies in the areas of catalyst, combustion, fuel injection and engine management systems.
The most eye-catching feature of D-CAT is Toyota's DPNR (Diesel Particulate NOx Reduction system), the first catalyst system that allows simultaneous reduction of particulate matter and nitrogen oxide in diesel exhaust emissions.
Toyota plans to introduce the D-CAT badge to the market from 2003 onwards.
