18 March 2003: Toyota Ireland has launched the new Land Cruiser in this market, in a price range between E32,590-E61,320.

The latest version of the legendary SUV, now in its 50th year since the first Land Cruiser developed for the Japanese National Police Agency, is now the 11th generation of the vehicle, and comes as usual in 3- and 5-door body styles, both passenger and commercial.

The new generation Land Cruiser is powered by a 3-litre D-4D turbodiesel, outputting 163bhp. In addition to the 5-speed manual, a 4-speed autobox is available on the LWB version at an extra E2,630.

Optional extras include a new Downhill Assist Control for the automatic version, and a Hill Start Control which stops the vehicle rolling backwards in a restart after stopping on an incline.
