Toyota/PSA break ground in Czechoslovakia

19 April 2002: Fujio Cho, President of Toyota Motor Corporation, and Jean-Martin Folz, Chairman of PSA Peugeot Citroën, have officially broken ground for their joint plant in Kolin, 60 kilometers east of Prague in the Czech Republic.

From 2005, the Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile Czech (TPCA) plant will manufacture 300,000 small cars a year, primarily for European markets. The total investment (research & development and business startup costs) is estimated at approximately ¤1.5 billion.
