100th new Prius arrives

18 March 2004: Toyota Ireland recently got its 100th new Prius delivered, against a background of relatively booming sales for its second generation hyprid.

There are currently in excess of 200 orders for the car in Ireland, and across Europe the car is also doing much better than expected.

The situation here is also a small reflection of what pertains in the US, where those waiting for 2004 models may have to wait until 2005 models before they get their hybrid car.

In late December, Toyota announced that it would increase the 36,000 annual production figure to 47,000.

And Honda, whose Civic Hybrid is the only production hybrid competitor to the Prius, is also seeing increased sales.
