Toyota/PSA small car for 2005

29 May 2003: A joint venture small car being developed by Toyota, Citroen and Peugeot is well on target for production in 2005.

The vehicle - dubbed the 'E5,000 car' because of its current-value price target - will sit below the Yaris, C2 and Peugeot 106 replacement when it rolls off the line at Kolin in the Czech Republic.

Key personnel from the participating companies have already relocated to Kolin. About 90 per cent of the parts for the car will be sourced in the Czech Republic, reflecting a shift in interest by global carmakers towards the lower-cost east European countries.
