Transit Connect wins new award
10 May 2003: Ford's new Transit Connect has won two more accolades in major European markets, including Europe's biggest market for commercials, Germany.
In taking Germany's 'Van of the Year 2003' award in the delivery segment, Transit Connect had to win over jurors from three motoring publications, the Association of Vehicle Importers, the Leipzig Motor Show, as well as professional drivers and fleet managers. Some 22 different vehicles were tested as part of a two-day programme.
The long wheelbase Transit Connect impressed jurors with its flexibility, accessibility and loadbox functionality. The jurors also commended seat comfort - an important consideration for professional drivers.
In a similar competition in Spain, Transit Connect was awarded 'Industrial Light Van of the Year' by the authoritative Transporte 3 magazine. The jury consisted of leading journalists in the field of transportation as well as technical experts.
Designed and engineered specifically for the commercial vehicle market, Transit Connect won the International Van of the Year award earlier this year by a record breaking margin, taking 126 points out of a maximum 140.
