Twingo replacement aimed for profit

01 June 2004: The Twingo replacement from Renault will remain cheerful, but will lose its 'cheap' positioning in developed markets like its home France.

To be built on the current Clio platform for economy's sake, the next Twingo will be aimed stylistically at the Smart and the Mini so that it can attract higher prices, and therefore better profits.

But a basic version will also be built for marketing in developing countries.

Production is scheduled for 2006.
