09 April 2003: The second edition of 'You and Your Tyres', produced by the Irish Tyre Industry Association, has just been published. With around 200,000 cars on Irish roads travelling on illegal tyres, the purpose of the brochure is to highlight awareness of tyres as fundamental to motorists' safety on the road.

"You need good tyres to drive safely. They are the only contact you have with the road and affect the steering, braking, and acceleration performance of your car", says Jack Farrell, Chief Executive, Irish Tyre Industry Association. " Tyres should be checked every two weeks to ensure they are in top working condition."

The publication deals with areas such as care of tyres, tyres and the law, tyres and the environment.
