VW moves on Touareg waiting lists

19 December 2003: Volkswagen is to set all its Polo production in Spain in order to increase production capacity in Slovakia for the surprise success Touareg SUV.

With waiting lists of up to 10 months for the Touareg, and just 15,000 delivered this year because of a slow ramp-up, the German company has transferred all Polo building to its Pamplona plant, which was running at more than 30 per cent under capacity.

Volkswagen says it was 'surprised by the high demand' for the Touareg.
