VW dealer hits 25th

16 January 2004: One of Waterford's best known motor dealerships, Tom Murphy Car Sales, will celebrate 25 years in business in 2004.

Founded by Tom Murphy and his wife Liz, the company began operations on April 6th 1979. In the early 1980s, the business took a major leap forward with their appointment as main dealers for Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Audi.

Since then, thanks in large measure to a multi-million Euro investment programme, the company has grown and expanded and has a customer base that now extends across Ireland.

Highlights of the company's 25 years in business include the distinction of being the first motor dealership in Ireland to achieve the coveted IS0 9002 Quality Standard. Over the course of their 25 years in business, turnover has increased from a first year figure of €1 million to a current level of €30 million.
