US premiere for powerful VWs

31 December 2003: At the January 2004 Detroit Motor Show next week, Volkswagen of America will be showing its highly anticipated R32 sports car—the most powerful Golf-based model ever and the first model of this kind to offer all-wheel-drive in the US market.

The company will also show the first U.S. production version of the new 2004 Touareg V10 TDI—one of the strongest SUVs in the world by virtue of its advanced and powerful high-tech diesel engine that creates 310 horsepower.

The sporty R32, one of Volkswagen’s most aggressive and dynamic cars ever, features a powerful 3.2-liter VR6 engine that produces 240 hp and accelerates from 0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds.

Volkswagen’s latest version of the Touareg employs a five-litre, 10-cylinder diesel engine that produces 310 hp and is capable of towing 7,716 lbs. The Touareg V10 TDI comes standard with a 4XMOTION permanent four-wheel drive with low range gear and adaptive torque distribution, six-speed automatic transmission, Electronic Stabilization Program with brake assist as well as Hill Descent and Climb Assist.
