Nissan X-Trail gets 'Best Recreational' accolade

25 July 2002: The Nissan X-TRAIL has been voted the ‘best recreational vehicle’ by the UK’s weekly motoring magazine, Auto Express. It beat competition from the Land Rover Freelander and the Honda CR-V, though the magazine’s editor Tom Barnard said the decision ‘was almost too close to call’ and the vehicle made its ranking eventually for iits ‘fresh take’ on interior design.

In Ireland the X-Trail is powered by a 140PS 2.0-litre petrol. A 114PS 2.2-litre diesel available in the UK and other markets is not available here because of penal VRT taxes, especially on vehicles of over two litres engine capacity.
